Obituary Writing

The passing of a loved one is an emotional time for everyone. As family members prepare to say their goodbyes, many find themselves pondering how to compose an obituary, a task that most are totally unprepared for. At a time of loss, it can be extremely difficult to find the right words, to know what details to include, paying a fitting tribute to their loved one whilst feeling lost in grief. If this concerns you, don’t worry as we can help to relieve the burden.

At Cliff Bradley & Sons we take full responsibility when dealing with obituary notices, liaising with you, family members and the local press to publish an obituary that is accurate, publicly announcing the death of your loved one and their funeral details.

Traditionally, it is commonplace for our families to include an obituary in the local newspaper and on the obituaries page of our website. This announcement helps the family to share details of their loved ones passing, especially to people that the deceased may have known during their lifetime, and where perhaps, they do not have contact details. Generally the obituary notice provides relevant information about a loved one’s funeral arrangements, along with details of a nominated charity for donations (if this is the deceased or the family’s wish). Most families or friends also use the obituary as an opportunity to thank those who have helped in the care and support of their loved one.
